I have people from multiple divisions that need to work together as a team. Will this work for people who don't spend a lot of time interacting?

Absolutely! Belbin creates a common team language that allows people to understand what each other brings to a team without having to spend a lot of time getting to know each other.

Is Belbin a replacement for Myers-Briggs/Six Sigma/DiSC?

Each personality or psychometric assessment tool and philosophy has a specific focus on helping an individual gain self-awareness and how to use that awareness in interacting with others. Beblin takes into account individual behavior and sets it in the context of team work, and how individuals are most useful and effective in the team.

Does it contradict what we are already doing?

No, Belbin compliments other assessments as it provides evidence-based information from the perspective of achieving balance of team member contributions, not just personality.

What will this cost me?

The Belbin Team Roles individual report, which is the building block for all Belbin training, costs $60 per person. The cost for the Belbin workshops, which can range from two hours to two days, are charged based on a day rate that is reasonable and reflects SmarttStrategies's desire to help organizations use the Belbin philosophy to get betters results from their team members.

My company only has five employees. How does a philosophy that talks about “nine roles” work for us?

Most people have two to three preferred roles that they can naturally bring to the team. So, for example, a well-chosen team of three can have a balance of all nine team roles represented.

Can Belbin help with our process improvement initiatives?

Belbin can help with both short-term and long-term project teams. In the context of the stages of a project, Belbin allows you to match the right team role contribution with the appropriate project stage. This allows you to get the most and best contribution from each team member when their contribution is most valuable.

Can Belbin help our project managers be more effective?

Belbin can help project managers better understand the resources available in their team and how to most effectively use those resources.

Can Belbin help our managers do their jobs better?

Belbin can help managers effectively allocate work and move employees into roles that best fit their natural aptitudes. This results in people working to their best ability in situations that allow them to thrive.

What is the difference between a Belbin Report and a Team Roles Report?

They are the same thing. The terms are used interchangeably.
